CHUK Concludes Intensive GI Nurse Training Course to Strengthen Endoscopy Services in Rwanda

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Kigali (CHUK) through its GI/Endoscopy team, in collaboration with Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) Rwanda and with support from Fujifilm, has successfully concluded a two-day Standardised GI Nurse Training Course aimed at strengthening endoscopy services across Rwanda.

The training brought together 41 nurses from various public and private hospitals nationwide, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience in gastrointestinal endoscopy care and procedures.

Participants received comprehensive training covering multiple endoscopy techniques, including endoscopy material cleaning and safety protocols, basic endoscopy procedures, and advanced interventions such as Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals and improve the quality and safety of gastrointestinal care services in Rwanda through specialized training and international collaboration.

Health professionals and organizers emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in advancing patient care and ensuring high standards in endoscopy practice across the country.
