The Dermatology Unit at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) provides comprehensive care for patients with diseases affecting the skin, hair, nails, and mucous membranes. The unit is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, education, and research.

Our multidisciplinary team manages both common and complex dermatological conditions across all age groups using modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

The Dermatology Unit provides diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for a wide range of conditions, including:

  • Infectious skin diseases
  • Inflammatory and allergic skin disorders (eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis)
  • Autoimmune skin diseases
  • Acne and pigmentary disorders
  • Hair and nail disorders
  • Sexually transmitted infections with dermatological manifestations
  • Pediatric dermatological conditions
  • Occupational and environmental skin diseases
  • Skin tumors and precancerous lesions

Both medical and procedural dermatology services are offered, including minor surgical procedures and skin biopsies when indicated.

Training and Research

The Dermatology Unit actively participates in the training of medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals. The department is also involved in clinical research aimed at improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of skin diseases.

Working Hours

Outpatient Services: As scheduled by appointment

Inpatient and Emergency Services: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
