The Oncology Unit at the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) provides comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with various types of cancer. The unit is committed to early detection, accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and continuous follow-up, while promoting patient-centered care, research, and medical education.

The Oncology Unit provides screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for a wide range of cancers, including:
- Cervical cancer
- Breast cancer
- Ovarian and endometrial cancers
- Prostate cancer
- Gastrointestinal cancers
- Hematological malignancies
- Other solid tumors
Services include:
- Cancer screening and early detection
- Diagnostic evaluation and staging
- Chemotherapy and supportive care
- Multidisciplinary tumor board discussions
- Palliative and supportive care
- Patient counseling and follow-up
Patients requiring advanced treatment such as radiotherapy or specialized oncology care are referred in collaboration with national and international partner institutions.
Training and Research
The Oncology Unit actively participates in the training of medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals. The department is also engaged in clinical research aimed at improving cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes.
Working Hours
Outpatient Services: As scheduled by appointment
Inpatient and Emergency Services: Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
