Welcome to the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK)
On behalf of the management and staff of CHUK, we are pleased to warmly welcome you to our website. We are honored by your visit and take this opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and patient-centered healthcare to all those we serve. At CHUK, our patients and their families remain at the heart of everything we do, and we continuously strive to improve our services through professionalism, compassion, innovation, and excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
The University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) is one of the principal referral hospitals in Rwanda and a cornerstone of the national healthcare system. Our history dates back to 1928 when the institution began operating as a health center. In 1965, it was elevated to the status of a hospital, expanding its capacity to provide specialized medical services. With the enactment of Law N° 41/41/2000 of 7/12/2000 governing its establishment and organization, CHUK became a public institution with legal personality, officially recognized as the University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK).
As a leading teaching hospital, CHUK plays a vital role in training future healthcare professionals, advancing medical knowledge through research, and delivering comprehensive, specialized, and super-specialized services to the population. We remain dedicated to strengthening healthcare delivery, embracing modern technology, and upholding the highest standards of medical ethics and patient care.
We thank you for your trust in CHUK and invite you to explore our website to learn more about our services, departments, and commitment to improving health and saving lives.
